In 2018 we announced our support as the Creative Partner for The Westfield Health British Transplant Games.
The 4 day sports event was hosted in our home city of Newport in the summer of 2019 and we were delighted to add our branding and design expertise to the charity event that saw organ transplant recipients teams, donor families, living donors and friends come together to celebrate the gift of life.
Witnessing the games first hand was both humbling and exhilarating: from the opening ceremony at Rodney Parade through to the closing celebrations at the Celtic Manor, it was clear that irrespective of age, gender or ethnicity, the games provided a special bond and a coming together of people who shared life changing experiences. We were hooked.
Coventry was to be the next host city for August 2020 and we focused on creating brand messaging and destination branding that was as diverse as the people, places and sports that the games delivered. However, in the current COVID 19 climate, a physical get together was no longer feasible, although as usual, the organisers and supporting charities have been working tirelessly to engage and inspire those affected to ensure the ‘donor family’ stays connected and the aims of the games stay in the public eye.
At Icon, we’re continually in awe of these team of volunteers and the inspirational people who show determination and bravery day in day out.
That’s why we’re delighted and privileged to confirm our commitment as Creative Partner for the next few years, taking The Westfield Health British Transplant Games onto Leeds in 2021 and beyond.
The Westfield Health British Transplant Games is the flagship event for Transplant Sport and receives no central funding with all monies raised via local organising committees and sponsorship. To find out more, log onto
