Swansea University have progressed to the final stages of the Santander Cycles University Challenge for a chance to win £100,000 of investment in 50 bikes across 5 docking stations around Swansea. The scheme will benefit everyone from students at Swansea University to the local community and organisations, and they asked Icon to help them raise awareness for it and exceed their target.
From exhibition stands to social media graphics in both English and Welsh, our illustrative solution provided Swansea University with an adaptable set of vibrant designs that worked cohesively to create a strong campaign that was suitable for their varied audiences and applications. We enjoyed the creative freedom that the use of illustration gave us, letting us depict Swansea and members of the community in a stylised way. This made the visuals more inclusive and helped us to turn a limited colour palette into an enhancing feature. The limited illustrative elements and colour scheme also meant that the designs could be applied to lots of different media whilst still feeling consistent. This also meant that we could provide Swansea University with guidelines to allow them to adapt the graphic elements to suit their needs and messages as the competition goes on.
To win, Swansea University have to be one of the two universities that raise the most funds above their crowdfunding target by December 8th, and they’re currently in first place with an impressive 84% raised. We know that the bike scheme is a fantastic opportunity for the University and local community so we’ve pledged our support, and encourage others to do the same here
